The Parkers on Netflix

Publish date: 2024-06-23

If you need to disconnect from the world, try this show on Netflix. Monique goes back to college as a single Mom and hilarity ensues. Her ardor for Professor Ogilvee reminds me of Pepe LePeaux chasing the black cat who tries to escape. This show is from the early 2000s and there is some homophobia at times, especially anti trans or anti gay (Nikki don't play that way). Countess Vaughn,as Kim Parker, also has great comedic chops.

Speaking of gay, here’s an Interesting fact: did you know Jenna is now gay? She left her husband a few years ago for a woman. I was shocked because when she was on Celebrity Wife Swap with her then-husband, she seemed like the ultimate frau.

She looks gross and needs to find a better foundation color.

I loved The Parkers, and Nikki's relentless pursuit of Professor Oglevee.

This show's writing was usually awful, but Monique's expressions and reactions always cracked me up.

20 years later still totally underrated and way better than Moesha. Monique, Countess Vaughn and Dorian Wilson were hilarious and had the best comedy skills.

RIP Yvette Wilson AKA Andell
