Brenda Powell Obituary, Death – A jury in Summit County found an Akron woman guilty of two charges of first-degree murder on Wednesday. The woman was accused of stabbing her mother approximately 30 times in the year 2020. According to a press release issued by the county prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh, Sydney Powell, 23, was also found guilty of felony assault and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of Brenda Powell, who was 50 years old and lived in a residence on the northwest part of the city in March of 2020.
According to the findings of the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, Brenda Powell suffered many injuries, both sharp and blunt, before her death. According to a representative for the hospital, she had spent the majority of her 28-year career as a child life expert at Akron Children’s Hospital.
The prosecution contends that Sydney Powell attacked her mother with a cast-iron skillet, striking her in the head, and then repeatedly stabbing her in the neck, approximately thirty times total. St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, awarded Sydney Powell her diploma in 2018, and she attended the University of Mount Union from August 2018 to December 2019 after graduating from high school. Powell is expected to receive his sentencing on September 28 from the Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly McLaughlin.
