Betty Davis passed away Wednesday morning at 4:40 a.m. Eastern at her Homestead, Pennsylvania home.

Confirming the news of her passing, Davis’ longtime friend Connie Portis released a press statement saying ‘we will pay tribute to her beautiful, bold, and brash persona’.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Betty Davis, a multi-talented music influencer and pioneer rock star, singer, songwriter, and fashion icon,” the statement said.

It continued: “Most of all, Betty was a friend, aunt, niece, and beloved member of her community of Homestead, Pennsylvania, and of the worldwide community of friends and fans.”

“At a time to be announced, we will pay tribute to her beautiful, bold, and brash persona. Today we cherish her memory as the sweet, thoughtful, and reflective person she was.… There is no other,” the statement added.

Betty Davis husband and children

Betty was married to late American jazz musician Miles Davis. They tied the knot in September 1968, however, the power couple divorced over adultery on the part of Betty.

Miles filed for divorce in 1969 after claiming that Betty was seeing late American singer Jimi Hendrix.

But Betty denied the claim, saying: “Miles and I broke up because of his violent temper.”

Sadly, the couple didn’t have children together.

Betty Davis net worth

Betty had an estimated net worth of $3 million, thanks to her music.

She released her self-titled debut in 1973 and followed up with two more: 1974’s They Say I’m Different and 1975’s Nasty Gal.

For her debut album, Davis worked with bassist Larry Graham and drummer Greg Errico (of Sly and the Family Stone), keyboardist Merl Saunders, and guitarists Neal Schon and Douglas Rodriguez.

Slow sales plagued the album, as well as her two follow-ups, and she slowly receded from view. All three albums were later reissued along with her early sessions with Miles Davis and a previously unreleased 1976 LP, Crashin’ from Passion.
